Perfect Layers is for combining and blending images without Photoshop. Perfect Portrait is for all of your portrait retouching. There is a new Browse that gives you the ability to locate the files you want to work on, a new Perfect Enhance that provides you with the capability to enhance your images, a re-engineered Perfect Effects for stylizing your images, and Perfect B&W for converting your images to black and white.
There are now eight areas in Perfect Photo Suite. It contains everything you need to handle even fairly complex photographic post-processing tasks. While it still works with Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Photoshop Elements, Adobe Lightroom, and Apple Aperture, now, for the first time, it is also a complete standalone photo editor. So far as I know there are no competing products for PhotoTools, but if there are and the company that produces the software wants me to review their products, I’ll happily do so. I wrote the review because I think that OnOne products are a wonderful addition to my Photoshop and Lightroom workflow. I do get a tiny cut on sales that originate from my site, but for the amount I earn, I would not advertise anything. The truth is that I really like the software, and I now use it quite regularly. As a stand alone product or as part of OnOne’s Perfect Photo Suite, Photo Tools is a robust and very practical addition to Photoshop. I honestly recommend this plugin to anyone looking to add some creative diversity to their imagey. When used well, Photo Tools will give the user some incredible variations on their photos. Just like with Photoshop itself, Photo Tools requires some time and patience in order to achieve your final results. Don’t go expecting to have a one button solution to making great photos. Some of the coolest presets included in the plugin were designed by these people who shoot and retouch for a living. Photo Tools was developed with the help of some top photographers and Photoshop experts. Some of the possibilities that Photo Tools enables the user to achieve include giving your photos a vintage look, adding flare, adding fog, edge effects, adding textures, and so much more. Add to that the possibility of adjusting the opacity of the multiple effects and you have an incredible amount of variations possible. So what does Photo Tools do? It allows you to use presets of filters and effects on your images while allowing you to stack the effects, much like layers in Photoshop. While there is no such thing as a one step process to make your images look professional, Photo Tools allows you to take a good image to the next level.
A bold statement indeed, but they may be right about that to a good degree.
